Teaching Adults with Confidence Teaching Adults with Confidence is designed to provide in-depth training for those who are teaching afterschool staff. Learn: Why is it important to teach adults? How do adults learn and how should they be taught? What are the key principles for organizing and growing a staff development program? You will develop, practice and refine your techniques and methods for building staff knowledge and skills. Walk away ready to each your own behavior management and conflict resolution trainings!
Growing Healthy Children Afterschool programs have been identified as playing a critical role in decreasing childhood obesity, improving nutrition and expanding physical activity. This interactive session will provide practical guidance and resources to strengthen afterschool programs in implementing health and nutrition activities. Learn about curriculums and resources available to afterschool programs. Walk away with concrete ideas and approaches to help fight the obesity crisis facing our children and youth.
Program Management that Works!
Make your program work like a well-oiled machine! This track will explore afterschool program management from multiple angles. Based on the work of Margie Carter and Deb Curtis in The Visionary Director: Handbook for Dreaming, Organizing and Improvising in Your Center, this workshop will include: an analysis of your individual style, a look at leadership, the triangle framework of management the director as manager of budgets and staffing your program. Participants will learn to manage their site/program more efficiently and effectively. You’ll learn practical ways to make your program a joy to attend and work for.
AfterSchool Program Improvement
Learn how to use the National AfterSchool Association accreditation tools to improve the quality of afterschool programs. Become familiar with the national standards, gain resources on program improvement processes, and get started on improving the quality of your afterschool program. This interactive workshop will explore the six areas of the National AfterSchool Association’s standards for quality school-age care: human relationships, indoor environment, outdoor environment, activities, safety, health & nutrition, and administration. Go step by step through the accreditation process and adapt the tools to fit your program’s individual needs. Get ready to take your program to the next level! |
